I would definitely check with the attorney you sent it to. I have been to court on a 7 year old ticket before. I know some that have been to 10 year old ticket trials.

Damn. I'm going to court next month on a DWI from '09. That's about as distant as my cases have gone.

Spoke to my attorney, apparently as stated above, they did file a complaint within the 2 year allotment, so they have unlimited time to pursue the citation. The officer is still on the force apparently. So, now my only option is to have my attorney plea out on the fact it's been 6 years and see what happens. This is crazy. I literally do not remember this ticket whatsoever. I was unaware I had ever received a red light ticket.

If he has requested a trial then what you are asking would be legitimate. Since he is just now learning of this, then it means he has not requested a trial and therefore what you have asked is not legitimate.

OP- Quit breaking the law asshole!

                    That doesn't work.

I had notice to come to court in November of 2009 on a ticket I wrote in October of 1992. I told the prosecutor to just drop it. I did write the ticket but 17 years is rediculous, whether I remember the stop or not.

Cut your losses and move on.

Did they just run out of things to prosecute?
