I would add one more thing to your statement, it as a fellow believer, it appears to me that they're trying to convince themselves and others that they will be alright w/out God when it's all said and done.

What does being "good" have to do with believing in God?

I grew up going to church, but I wouldn't consider myself very religious. I believe that there is a God and he created the earth, now how it happened who the hell knows. The ads don't personally bother me, they have a right to pay for advertising just like any other group has.

However what do Atheist gain by converting people? Right or wrong Christians feel that God has commanded them to spread the word, so they have a reason to try and convert people. I can't stand someone trying to push their beliefs on me no matter what their agenda is.

THAT'S what I was speaking of by "recruiting".

By the way, there is a large atheist organization, and they get their money from somewhere. They may not call it "tithing", but they damn sure take donations.

Or a simple lack of responsibility. Either way, that still doesn't mean squat to his response to your first post.

Spreading the Word and pushing beliefs are two different things.

Nothing, but I always hear, "...but he's a good man".

Agreed, its the ones the take spreading the word as a requirement to force people into believing that bother me. These are usually the same people that look down on those that aren't as committed or don't believe the same things they do.

Everybody pushes their beliefs whether they realize/want to admit it or not.

It's your blanket statement that's wrong, that Christians take it as an affront to them. I'm a Christian and am not bothered by it in the least. This is America, everyone has the right to be heard if they so choose.

I haven't noticed that. I'll have to look for it.

That may be, but that is exactly what believers do too.

As for me, I consider myself agnostic. I think the idea of atheism is just as arrogant as some christians (I said some, not all). It seems like these guys are trying to force their belief down other's throats just as much as those they complain about. I don't necessarily believe in god but don't attempt to tear others down for it either.

Well, rumor has it that I occasionally speak my mind. I will defend my beliefs when someone tries to knock it. It pisses me off knowing that there are people I care about and love that aren't saved... but in the long run, I have to accept it and just respect everyone's choice because I also believe the God gave us the gift of free will to choose our own paths because He loves us so much. If it's good enough for God, then it's good enough for me. Still heartbreaking, though.

Not really, just the insecure ones are the ones who see it that way and feel threatened by it.

I think some may have a skewed definition of atheism.
