I am currently selling my house, and tonight I was called at 7:08 for a showing at 7:15.

3 cars pulls up, the Realtor and then two guys in pretty beat up cars. They go inside and come out SIX minutes later...that's it.

Then the Realtor locks up the house and drives off...these two guys hang out in my street for 20 minutes...just sitting there. They turned off my exterior lights so it was pretty dark, only the street light was on at this point.

Finally they both get in their cars after pointing at random stuff on the house and sitting in their cars forever and drive off.

I go in, and there is a window cracked 2 inches open...

All they had to do was open my closet door and see my safe sitting there to know I have about $9000 in firearms...it's a stackon safe, so with all guns/ammo inside it weighs roughly 350 pounds.

Thoughts? I have already told my Realtor and he is digging into the chick who showed them the house (did she know them, was it last minute, etc...)

My next door neighbor (who is a Grand Prairie Cop) got his front door kicked in about a month ago. I have another cop two doors down (Grand Prairie as well) and he had his door kicked in 6 months ago.

They had a security system, I am getting a call (hopefully) tomorrow to have mine installed.

During the day, no. Both my wife and I work. I work forever away, she is 15 min away. We have retired people in the neighborhood that keeps an eye on stuff (he called the GPD on me tonight actually - because I was parked in front of his window for 45 min watching my house)

have 2-3 of those old folks park in your driveway while the house is empty. cheap, easy, free insurance. Sure it wont stop shit, but its definitely a deterrent. The window being cracked is fucked.

Definitely wouldn't leave house unattended until you have a security system installed or everything(all guns, except for the one you plan to use when they kick the door in at night, and personal valuables) are moved somewhere else...

I would recommend looking at the pictures taken and posted with your listing... It's not uncommon for thieves to browse the pictures and target houses with valuables in plain sight... If any of them show rare collectibles or safes then I would take them off...

That TV will do it... It has become more common recently... It is the new obituary robberies... I am about to be a real estate agent and that is one thing I really picked up on during my class work and research... I have a few houses listed for sale and immediately changed my pictures...

True and I work mids. I always get a strange look from people when I'm working a burglary call and I tell them it mostly happens in the daytime. I usually have to explain it before they understand.
