Went to Colombia last year with my roommate, who was born in Colombia. Stayed with his family just outside of Bogota and I'm not sure I've ever had more fun in my life. I'd go back in a heartbeat. I'm sure being with locals helped me feel a bit safer, but I never felt like I was in any danger.

Colombia Rocks, i worked there for 5 years in MUCH worse locations than Bogota , lived in Cali for 2 years, i would go back in a heart beat. (oh and i have ) in fact in JAn i plan on going back again.

In the last 5 years Colombia has improved Substantially as far as crime goes.
Now add in a few body guards and extra security bullshit and then yea, you just painted a fucking target on your back. Peolple wonder who you are and why you are so important.

Worse part about colombia is not wanting to leave after getting there.
Beautiful country, Women are SMOKING HOT and oh so willing...lol

If your married, don't go there. the big risk to you will be asking your wife for a divorce.

i used to party and drink like a fucking idiot all over Colombia and trust me i went to some real shit holes lol.

Bogota is just like downtown dallas. pick pocketers and scam artists are your biggest risk.

if you have never been there and you have an open mind, you will have a good time.

Just treat them like you would treat a Nice American Gal and you will have them melting in your hand...Most Colombian men (IMO) are worthless, but then again i did work with their Military and Police.....

In fact the Only thing kick ass about Colombia's Police is the fact that their Blackhawks are outfitted like Army Spec Ops helo's, Miniguns, GAU-19's and rocket pods... a Police helo in Colombia will defintely finish any problem someone else starts....
