A lot of points made in this thread are valid, or at least somewhat valid. There's just a shit ton of moronic shit mixed in."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

In many cases, the dogs aren't. Many of those types of dogs can be pulled from that environment and eventually used as rescue dogs, loving pets, to cheer up old people in nursing homes, etc. For every attack you hear about (of which many likely aren't even pit bulls), there are lots of dogs out there that never harm anyone. You just won't see that in any headlines.

Some pitbull owners are trash. Far too many. Ive never denied that. But there are still way more who aren't.

That baby was asleep in a swing, probably in the living room, which is when most new Mom's make a mad dash for a shower, laundry, dishes, ect. Unless you can say they 'sic'd' the dog on them it is a tragedy, not a crime. I'm sure the parents are torturing themselves enough.
It's extremely impractical to say a 13 day old baby can't be left alone for a few minutes. What's also impractical is keeping indoor pets when you have a newborn. Their fur, pet dander, and ability to be all the animal they're destined to be are too much exposure for a 13 day old.
After having my first born I got rid of my indoor cat. WHY? I don't need some fucking animal crawling around on my baby while I'm in the shower. That's just me though. I realize I can't be pet patrol and parent 100% of the time in multiple locations simultaneously, so I removed the possible threat.
Anyone who has children know exactly how many times they had to get up and go in the other room for split moments at a time day in and day out, year after year. You can't teather the kid to yourself for crying out loud, and if someone did they'd be reported for abuse.
It's as simple as this. If you allow your child to play with an animal, you are taking a calculated risk. Most people calculate that the risk is low enough for no concern.... and some of those people end up seriously wrongOriginally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable".
