Figured, which is why my initial reply was made in the same fashion. I don't see the need for it. Just makes you appear worse than you are. Hell, I don't even like that I said it.

Mind you, to some of us, our dogs are like our children. I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

right there with ya, man... my dog is my baby. and although he does just fine with other dogs and hasn't ever gotten into it with a pit, I keep an extra focused eye on him when some gangsta wannabe walks into the park with his pit bull on a huge chain yanking him through the gate

I dont care what anyone says....

Pit Bulls are unpredictable and should NEVER be considered a family pet. Its always said...."The dog has never shown signs of aggression"

          Then....

It mauls/kills someone. Id rather not own one and know that my family would be safe vs. having to learn the hard way that a Pit Bull is unpredictable. Now Im not saying ONLY Pit Bulls are unpredictable, but every time you hear about a dog killing someone, it's a PIT BULL 95% of the time.

Wow. Just wow. The parents should be prosecuted?

"Detectives say the pit bull, which never showed signs of aggression in the past, was in the same room as the infant who was left in a baby sleep swing. An adult was inside the house, detectives added, but was in another room."

To say that a 13 day old baby should never be left alone is impractical. That baby was asleep in a swing, probably in the living room, which is when most new Mom's make a mad dash for a shower, laundry, dishes, ect. Unless you can say they 'sic'd' the dog on them it is a tragedy, not a crime. I'm sure the parents are torturing themselves enough.

That's just it. Pitbulls weren't ever bred or trained to be people aggressive. Plenty of other breeds were.

but all the SMF's breeding "badass" dogs cross/inbred the pit in order to create the ultimate killer don't care about aggressiveness towards humans...

if your pit bull weighs more than about 50lbs, you don't own a pit bull...

                          Some get bigger than others.

You don't have to overcome generations of breeding to have a people-friendly pitbull.

The point is, just like the family said.....the dog has never shown any agression.

Noones saying that there arent tons of Pit Bulls that would never harm a family member, but the ones who do, give ALL pit bulls a bad name. Theres no certain way to tell which Pit bull will turn on its owner/family and which one wont, but this family had to learn the hard way that just because a Pit Bull doesnt show aggression in the begining......... it doesnt mean it never will.

bred to kill... I don't care if they weren't originally bred to kill babies... they were bred to kill... and they've been mis-bred for decades now.

my friends have a dalmatian that obviously isn't 100% pure... clearly has some pointer in it... how do we know that? BECAUSE IT POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dilute a pit bull's gene pool with a dog who wasn't bred against human aggression and what do you get? potential human killer... the science of genetics is amazing and fascinating. You can't just train against it and expect a completely reprogrammed canine. Sorry, not gonna happen.
