Hmm I just got called and asked why my AS400 keeps logging out from inactivity... I should probably do some work today.

Chris is actually a relative of mine. I don't know what day you took it in, but if it was a Saturday that's kinda how it is. That place is insane most Saturdays. It's hard for advisors to keep up. Like bcoop said, has it thrown any codes or anything? There's a recall on that vacuum line that he is talking about. It's like an 05S08 code or something like that. I haven't really seen that cause idle problems though. It will cause an engine light though, and your brake pedal to essentially not work. You're right on 5.4's having a bad idle. At $300, that should just be the plugs with tax and everything. The boots cost $150 alone. I'd look at your paperwork. You should've gotten a "Know Your Vehicle" report as well and that will say if the technician had any recommendations.

I might not get to start until next week now. Remind me though and I'll pull the history up and see exactly what was done.

Ok. yeah the "99 point inspection" was a joke as there wasn't anything written but "ok."

I'll go pull the work order out of my glove box here in a few and check what was actually done. You'll see me up there raising fucking hell if they didn't do what they were supposed to have.

Sounds like it may not be the vac line then. That will cause a low or rough idle, not a high idle. At least in my experience anyways.

I agree as400 is junk. But having a few years with it does look good on a resume.

Absolutely. I did about 2 years of working off a as/400 system and it's always surprised people because of my age that i mention it on my resume. Whatever works tho!

Unfortunately some fo the techs rush through those things especially on Saturdays which is stupid because that's how they can make a little extra money. Shoot me a PM or something and let me know.

Exactly. I just turned 23 and I'm trained on as400 and three other logistic software programs.
What industry were you in that was utilizing that system?

When i was in college we used it for a student information database. I had to cross reference names and addresses with student ID's and stuff.

Keep with it man, i've seen LOTS of as/400 admin jobs in the last few years offering upwards of 70+k.
