My wifes 09 GT auto gets 24 mpg on the highway. I know it is not the 5.0 you are asking about... but it gets more than it was rated at. We average 19mpg and she drives windy backroads to work.

It all depends on the driver.

If gas mileage is your biggest concern get the v6.

My 2012 5.0 is getting 23 city/hwy right now and I was getting 32 mpg on the way back from San Antonio last month. I filled up in S.A (281 and 1604) and I made it to Allen with about a 1/4 of a tank. All I have is a drop in K&N airfilter, my buddy was seeing the same mpg in his 2011 V6. Going to Shreveport, he said he should have bought a 5.0

Wish I could tell you, but the GT I attempted to get Tuesday is still on the lot.

If gas mileage is a concern buy a focus.

My corvette Z06 gets 27.0mpg from Waco to Dallas if she doesn't need a backseat...

We have driven a focus, fusion, escape, edge and a mustang. And the mustang was her favorite. It us between that or an older cts. Grapevine has better prices on new mustangs then we can find on three year old cts's. I support the missing for sure, but I want her to drive the competition also. That way it will not be like I pushed the mustang on her. So I think a visit to a Chevrolet and dodge dealerships this weekend is in order .

And really, for the price per equipment, the mustang beats the focus.

Man, the 5.0 is fun, but way over kill for her. Got on it on the highway, and it just pulled till I chickened out. Was tapping 100mph real quick. I think we have pretty figured out color choice and interior choice. Wheel choices for the v6 is the only thing that stinks. So I will be looking for some 18" five spoke wheels when the time comes.
