I was just there 2 weeks ago, I can't wait to go back. The Cosmopolitan is very nice.

Club Marquee on Mondays @ The Cosmo
    Surrender on Wednesdays @ Encore

Botero @ Encore is a great restaurant
Nob Hill Tavern @ MGM is another good steak restaurant

Planet Hollywood is great to watch hot chicks wearing very little dance while you gamble but their drink service is slow
Harrah's had the quickest drink service and cheaper tables

Worst part of Vegas is the damn Mexicans everywhere trying to hand out those stripper cards. They are fucking everywhere.

I've been to Vegas once. I was extremely spoiled on my trip. Having said that, I would go without at LEAST 1k a day to blow. Every time you turn around in Vegas, you're tipping someone.

As mentioned, the pool parties are great. Hard to go wrong with any of the major pools, aside from the Bellagio pool which had mainly old hairy people when I went.

Drinks are usually $12-20 a piece, food is not cheap if you want to eat in a big casino. However, there is some amazing food to be had.

The old strip (Fremont Street) was a lot of fun too.

        Have fun!

The cheapest deal you'll find on airfare will be through American Airlines, book it as a vacation with air+car. You can get a rental for 3 days and rountrip airfare for about $350 and a lot of times the deal is good as close as the day before. Otherwise any of their "deals" will have the 6:50 am flight out and a midnight flight back and they'll be at least $100 more, with no rental and you'll need to book two weeks in advance.

I always get comped rooms so I don't check the package deals with a hotel but they are probably pretty decent as well. I know on Travelocity it's usually about $550 for a good place like the Luxor or Monte Carlo with airfare and no rental. You don't need a rental by any means, the only reason I ever get one is because of the cheap deal with AA. Taxi or a shuttle from the airport will cost you $15 each way usually btw so factor that in if you don't get a rental.

My advice would be to just show up without any kind of a plan or strategy other than to gamble, drink and have fun. That's what the town is built for and unless you plan on spending two weeks there you'll always think of something you had to see. If you plan on going back I'd also stick with one family of resorts, either Harrah's or MGM. I prefer MGM, they just seem more upscale and I do better on the machines. If you don't plan on going back for awhile and just want total freakin decadence then book it at the Wynn, Venetian or Bellagio and don't ever even leave the hotel.

You know, Living 100 miles away from the place and driving there sure takes out the excitement for going the first time. I have been 5 or 6 times now and still the best place to see some good drama and oddities is on Fremont!

I have never been in any of the fancy clubs for the nightlife myself but walking around all day with a drink in my hand and it being tolerated sure is nice.

            Enjoy!

I don't buy drinks. Those 2 foot tall frozen drinks at the pool are the only ones I know of that are that expensive.

Agreed, I can't think of any other place in the world where you can hop on a bus with a beer in your hand and it's considered normal.

That'd be my other tip, even if you get a rental the bus is faster. It's $5 for a 24 hour pass and they run up and down the strip constantly. There is zero parking available around Fremont St and you'd probably get carjacked on the way so take the bus if you go there. It is fun and it's a whole lot cheaper to get plastered there.

X2. I say, if you do one thing in Vegas, do a day club. Assuming the weather is nice enough to swim. Club Marquee @ The Cosmo and Tao Beach @ The Palazzo. A++++

Xeleventybillion. Chicken n Waffles there are amazing, along with everything else.

I think Freemont St is a must to see, if you've never been, and it's free. Sushi Samba, in the Palazzo (maybe Venetian, can't remember) is really good place to eat. Has a little of everything, sushi, steak, etc. Kinda pricey. Shows: I saw Jersey Boys, and it was awesome. It tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and how they came about. Really good story, and talented actors/singers.

Planning on being there 4 or 5 days. Using Southwest Airlines it will be just under $1k for flight + hotel stay (at the Luxor) for me and my girl. Planning on taking another $1k to $1500 for spending money and for shows. Neither one of us gambles, we may play some slots but thats it.

I don't buy drinks when playing, but at the pool/club, drinks are easily $12-20+ a piece. Was at that club on top of the Palms (never going back, great view though) and a double redbull vodka was ~$25.

Shit. We usually go for a week and take about $1000 total to spend/play with and haven't had a problem yet. However, I do buy a bunch of tickets and restaurant coupons before we go so all we usually have to pay for when we get there is gambling/extras.

When we went with Talisman, Lynn & Rob and Juggz in May, Chili and I were waiting in the bar of the hotel to meet up with the rest of the group. He ordered a double vodka/red bull. It came in a little glass and it was $22. F-that! We just went and sat at a machine instead.

Get a car and get off the strip during the day. Go see the Shelby museum, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, etc. It's well worth it.

Try the Wild Huskies at Caesars (just outside the craps pit by the back valet entrance, it's to the right if you come in the main entrance) - there's two machines, pick the one on the right. My buddy made $100 off it two days in a row two weeks ago (put in $20, walked with $118.xx both times).

We took our daughter and a friend of hers there last spring (MGM Grand), and they walked in with those $25 'rita's all proud about getting $12 refills. Then she saw my pile of Heineken bottles and asked me how much they were. When I said "free", she almost dropped that $25 p.o.s. she was holding. LOL!
