So..I was heading down to Lake Fork this morning around 2 am. Driving down FM515 heading East just past 2946 and before Star Mart. I see up ahead a car off of the the 2 lane road facing west bound with their hazard lights on. I decrease my speed from 55 down to around 45-50 and try to see who/what/why but to no avail. As soon as I pass the car I look back ahead and see something in the road in my lane so I slam on my brakes and come to a screetching hault. It is a 20 yr old guy sitting indian style trying to commit suicide. I was less than 15 ft. from demolishing him. He started yelling obscenities towards me and was mad that I didn't run him over.
I fumbled around in the floor board looking for my phone that flew across the cab when I slammed my brakes. I finally find my phone and dial 911. I tell the dispatcher what just happened and give him my location. The guy gets up out of the road ater a few minutes and starts walking back toward the previously mentioned vehicle. He gets in and the vehicle speeds off. The dispatcher then puts me in a position to start a pursuit to get a vehicle description and liscense plate number. When the involved realize I am coming the vehicle picks up speeds over 80 mph with no lights on other then the hazards. I follow from a safe distance as I don't know what this person(s) are capable of. We end up traveling a total of 7-8 miles or more all the while I am telling the dispatcher what farm roads we are passing. We end up at the junction of 779 and 515 and they turn and head North on 3160 I believe which is a farm road with loose gravel and uneven pavement.
Remember the car has no headlights on and it was pitch black. 3160 had so many "S" curves and dead ends it is rediculous. Anyways, I finally see 2 Sheriff units making ground behind me and I give way to let them pursue this idiot(s). Instead of passing me the Sherrif stops and ask me where they went. I couldn't see their flashing lights in the distance anymore so I could only assume they went straight. Both units speed off and I follow. Not 1/4 of a mile down the road I see the car in a distance and it appears to be stopped. Both units and myself pull up to what is now an accident scene.
As soon as I stop I see the 20 yr old and a woman in her late 40's dragging a 300+ lb woman in her late 20's early 30's out of a fiery vehicle from the passenger seat across the gravel. The 300 lber is breathing but unresponsive with major head trauma. The other woman who I find out is the mother of the failed suicide kid had seatbelt burn and a busted lip. She was the driver and was on 3 different pain medications and drunk. The suicide kid had a shoulder injury and was confirmed drunk with blowing a .07. He is also a known crackhead according to the Sheriff's Dept. The big woman had to be Careflighted to Tyler. The other 2 took an ambulance ride to the closest Hospital. I had to wait 3 1/2 hours for the State Trooper to show up to give a report and my information.
