Yeah, I have a generator, and a suicide cord. I'm pretty prepared. About the only thing I didn't do is board up.

yeah, a male to male cord to go from the generator to the dryer outlet. You have to open your main breaker and backfeed through the dryer outlet so that you have power to everything your generator can handle. Extremely dangerous if you don't have a brain, and also not sure of how legal it is...lol. The reason it's frowned upon is if your power is down and you do it with your main breaker shut and someone is working on the power lines, it can shock them... to death. (sorry I couldn't spell the E word for that meaning, lol)

I'm in Virginia Beach, and this hurricane is starting up. Well at least the storm is. Hoping for the best, and just a note. People are fucking crazy at home depot and gas stations right now. I saw two guys fist fighting over gas, one guy pumped and went inside to get his credit card and the guy waiting behind him got so impatient that he pushed his car out of the way with his truck. And then the fight started...

Holy crap-desperation is not a pretty sight.

And they just said that it's not supposed to be bad until 6PM and we just got a tornado warning for the next half hour! Yay, tornadoes and hurricanes, what next earthquakes?? Oh, we had that earlier this week, and the swamp is on fire... I officially live in hell, lol.

Never been through a hurricane. I am supposed to be going to NYC Wednesday morning for 6 nights. My girlfriend, my cousin, his fiance, and I have an apartment rented at 56th and Broadway. It will be interesting to see if we can make it into the city on time and how bad the aftermath is. Never thought in planning this trip I would need to factor in hurricane weather.
