Good Dr. Dave, how long does it normally take a 2 year old to recover from a broken fibula? Thanks.

Question for the copper.
Please send Child Protective Services out to Theodore's residence.
I'm just teasing you, Ted.
But in all seriousness, what happened? The kid trip over your gigantic lips or something? How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

2weeks and he should be well on his way to healing but it could take a month or more for complete healing and remodeling occurs over several months...It's a nonweight-bearing bone so the child can walk on the broken leg as tolerated...of course follow your doctor's orders.

I can't give a professional opinion, but I can share my experience. My break was on 9/11 2008 (almost 3 years ago), and it still hurts to walk and flex my ankle.
Perhaps it was due to the severity of the break, but I was bed-bound (literally could only force myself up to shit and bathe) for the first month, and stuck to a recliner for the next 3 months. Still having to use a wheel chair for most of that. It was over a year before I could walk without severe pain.

Kids are fucking resilient.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Spiral fracture (complete break) of the tibia, think wringing out a wash cloth, and the fibula snapped in two following it around. Also broke a few bones in the ankle itself.
They put a rod through my tibia, and pinned up my knee and ankle. As Dr. Dave said, the fibula isn't load bearing, so they just aligned it, and let it fuse without any hardware.
Most of my trouble has been with my ankle and knee, but it did take most of a year for the tibia itself to stop hurting. Everything hurt so bad though, that I can say that any of it could be attributed to the fibula, and for how long.
Due to all of that, and compartment syndrome, I have some nice big scars. It's a good thing that chicks dig scars, pain fades, and the glory lasts forever.

Thank God for a hot nurse that was kind enough to be prompt with my morphine doses. I'd never stared at a clock for hours at a time before that.
