when I was a kid my brother had a pet rat that got about that big....he bought it from a local petshop but wasn't told that it was a Gambian. When it was a baby it looked like a normal sized white rat, but then it had a massive growth spurt a few months later.....his name was Willard, I remember he was actually really cool to people, but my mother was way too freaked out about him still and made my brother get rid of him.

the petshop took him back once they saw how big he was.
