I worked with a Jehovah witness once. He really wasn't a bad guy and pretty much kept his religious beliefs on the downlow unless he wanted to make a joke about it or explain how they dealt with dating women. The religious side never came up.

I used to laugh my ass off when he called himself a jaydub.
Your first paragraph scares me because your second paragraph is true. That's why I never really had any suspicion because they never even brought anything up whatsoever. So I just thought they understood and that was that.

LOL. She was already "shunned" when I met her.

Easier said than done. They have been there through the birth. And with my divorce from the ex. I feel like I would be stabbing them in the back. I think I will just have to just take some time on this one.
What does her teacher have to do with it? (other than apologizing for your kid not saying the pledge?) You need to remove her from that environment asap-are you more concerned about hurting their feelings or fucking your kid up? Your allegiance is to your daughter-not your ex-in laws. Besides, it doesn't sound like they are taking any of your wishes into consideration plus they are lying through their teeth.

In the world today, I really don't think anyone is doing their kid any favors trying to indoctrinate them into believing this is some great land of the free with a pledge. Teach them history, and let them decide for themselves who to pledge their allegiance to. Of course anything out of the mouth of a JW is bullshit as well, I'm just sayin'. Don't get me started on those assholes.

Teachers are all-too-often expected to be stand-in parents nowadays, in addition to their already demanding job, because many kids real parents are too lazy or irresponsible to do the hard work of raising their own children.

He has caught the kid at least six times that he told me about. That isn't normal, generally someone would modify their behavior. It indicates a lack of self control to me.

Your situation has nothing to do with any communications with her teacher. This is between you, mommy, and mommys crazy parents.

As far as stabbing them in the back is concerned... if they're truly "there" for YOU... they'd respect your wishes. Everytime they lie to you, and undermine your wish as a parent, they're stabbing you in the back. Just food for thought.

If you don't like what is happening. It's time to take a stand and do what YOU feel is right. Religion is a HUGE issue that you must address how YOU see fit. If you don't want your daughter to think and feel the way her grandparents do....then you need to further limit how much time they have with her.

you're reading too far into it -
my daughter just started KG, and i want her to be as mainstream, follow the "norm" as possible, kids shouldn't be exposed to civil disobedience (i know you're not saying that) and esp. not that JW crap at 5 years old, or for as long as it can be avoided - ignorance is bliss, and when we were all kids, we were a lot happier and less jaded because we didn't know any better, and times were good -
