We're going to strongly disagree here, but I was curious anyway. Why the hatred for the Titan?
It's not the Titan so much as anything Nissan. They used to be one of the top Japanese lines but since around 2002 they've been trying to offer the most high tech cars on the market but didn't really field test them very well. Try to diagnose a no start condition on a Titan, it can be more complicated than starting a jet.
Then you have the complete lack of any aftermarket support from them. They do offer service bulletins but they dance around what the problems really are and want you to figure it out, instead of just saying they screwed up. I'm speaking specifically about oil consumption problems. They have a bulletin about a check engine lamp, with VVT codes and tell you to check the oil. What they won't tell you is that the engine is empty because the catalytic converter has come apart and the debris ground down the cylinder walls, all due to poor PCM tuning. They'll never publish oil consumption guidelines either and if you are out of warranty, tough.
To answer the original poster if she really likes the Tahoe then buy her another one. Either that or drive an Avalanche, I loved mine. It's kind of a half breed between a truck and SUV and does both functions well.
I can agree with a lot of your post, and then some of it I'm just ignorant on the facts and have to take your word. Although generally, I consider all the manufacturers to be slime balls about screwing the consumer.

F150 hands down. Then maybe GM, then Toyota, then dodge, but never Nissan.
I agree with your F150 comment. However, I would put Dodge rams before GMs. GMs seem to be nothing but rattle traps since about 2004. Their quality has gone downhill. I have never been in a fullsize Toyota truck so I can not compare. I enjoyed my Nissan Titan. It had a ton of room and different looks than all the other trucks. However, gas mileage and resale are horrible... but on the otherside... the new price is much cheaper.

My order would be...
F-150, Titan, Dodge/Toyota sort of tied then GM.
My reasoning is every F-150 I've been around has been solid and I own a Titan that I got dirt cheap and is not a bad vehicle. All GMs I've owned sucked, to include the one I still own. I like Toyotas and Dodges, but all the input I've had from various people/sources still indicates the Ford and Nissan are better trucks. Now, I'm not talking the larger trucks - just your basic truck.
BP already covered it...it's the Nissan thing. Plus they're ugly as sin. Really below f150 it's pointless though

My last Dodge didn't have any interior rattles but the seats sure did stain easily. I rarely ever had back seat passengers (like maybe twice a year) but for some reason the seats were heavily stained. Heck most of the time they were raised up so I could use the flat floor for hauling around camping gear. I've had several GM trucks and never had problems with the seats getting and staying dirty.
I'm going to get castigated, but when the Volkswagen Toureg came out, I went to look at them and was VERY impressed.
