Only way to fix your credit is pay off old debt, or keep your crap current.

Credit repair places will try to dispute all the bad things on your credit. But if the creditor says its a legal debt, then it stays on your credit.

You need to get negative stuff off your credit reports.

annualcreditreport.com <-- start here, disputing everything negative.

Then you need to pay everything on time. That's how you do it. No really an easy out.

Dispute everything negative
pay off highest interest rate debt first
pay off highest debt second (depending on how much of a difference)
pay in cash moving forward

Depends on how old it is, what it is, etc. If you already took the hit paying brings it current as it's based on last date of activity and does nothing to help you out.
