Have him wire your bank from his bank. You literally check it online as soon as he does it. Then go get the cash out. If you need someone to haul the car I can help.

This but use a secondary acct with a low balance and transfer the funds to another acct immediately after receiving the wire, so even if he tries to recall the wire, tere are no funds to pull back.
