  • Would you rent your house?

I've been living in my house for over 5 years. Lately I've been thinking about renting it out and let it pay itself and moving in with my mom so I can save some big time money and then buy a house cash or at least have a huge down payment for a nicer house.

Now here's my dilemna. I'm 29 and I've been living on my own since I was 18. I'm very independent.

If I do this I can save money but I feel it will definitely ruin my game with the ladies. Lol. But then again, one that's worth it will understand the reason behind it.

Do you think this is a good idea or should I just stay at my house? I'm single, no g/f, no kids....

How much equity do you have built up in the house so far?

          Sounds familiar.

I've been in the same house since August of 2000. I bought that houseabout a year before I got married, when it was just my son and me (and 46Tbird too, LOL). It is a small house, but nice enough to stay as my family grew (now five people and no Danny). In that time, our finances also grew, but we stayed in there and had an opportunity to save up for something we really wantm when the time comes. Now I can buy a bigger house on a good hunk of land for cash. Since I have some pretty good equity built up, I have opened my options on what I can do with this house. Sell it (either quickly at a low rate or sit on it for the price I want, no hurry) or I can rent it out and actually make some money each month while a renter pays it off.

I would do it in a heart beat. I plan on renting mine out in the next few years.

I wish I stayed with my parents longer and saved more. I too moved out (from Fl to TX) when I was 18.

Id consider moving to a cheaper place to rent your primary residence at a higher rate but with 2 caveats:

1- do NOT rent to single men
2- do NOT move in with your parent or parents

Single women are worse because they have the potential to have deadbeat boyfriends that don't go on the lease and be a real pain in the azz! Best are single moms.
