Nash, you read into it a bit too hard.
I think you should reexamine my post and respond with words that are less inaccurate next time.

I think you read into ruffdaddy's post a bit too hard when you claimed he was trying to convey the point that only people with a degree deserve retirement.

I think you forgot to activate your critical thinking apparatus when you read my post and concluded that I wasn't being equally sarcastic.

The best advice I ever heard and I'm sticking to it is find an income level you are comfortable at, say $50-75k or whatever. Then, as you and/or your wife earn more and more money as you progress in your career STAY AT THAT SAME STANDARD OF LIVING and bank the difference. You'll be amazed at how liberating that philosophy is. Minimize debt and maximize savings.
That's basically what we've done. Other than one house upgrade (job move), every increase of pay went to savings/401K/IRA.

I don't have speakers so I didn't hear the whole thing, but if it is true that's scary.
which is why payday loans companies are in business. lol

i usually keep 2k+ in savings, and if i need it i rarely let it go below 1k.

                          • Got enough saved to live for a year if I lost my job. That's not even counting the 401K. Lucky saver I guess. Only have a house and car payment plus utilities.
