    You are right, I was thinking more in terms of having to take a hit when taking the loan AND having to report it as income on your taxes.

                      I read this article when it came out and I had a hard time believing how financially irresponsible most people are nowadays. The best advice I ever heard and I'm sticking to it is find an income level you are comfortable at, say $50-75k or whatever. Then, as you and/or your wife earn more and more money as you progress in your career STAY AT THAT SAME STANDARD OF LIVING and bank the difference. You'll be amazed at how liberating that philosophy is. Minimize debt and maximize savings.
