My thoughts exactly; no trees, or grass; just nothing but ocean and giant sharks.

If it takes place, I give it 3 Presidential terms before they regulate themselves into a non-libertarian state (assuming they don't get invaded by the US or interpol). Any soverign nation has to have a military to protect itself, which costs money. Not to mention police to enforce the few regulations they do have, plus being there to prevent people from encroaching on other's freedoms (rape, theft, etc). Then you have a few years of salt on a steel platform eating away; repairs are not cheap. Taxes will increase a bit; and eventually one small regulation will build to another and then another until there are more laws telling them what they can't do than laws protecting what they can do. Not to mention just corrupt-ass politicians and one power-hungry "president" to ruin it all. All in the middle of the fucking ocean.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

The king, you seem confused. It said libertarian, not anarchist. Libertarians believe in the rights in our constitution and that no man should infringe upon others.

Why move to a platform? Just take whats yours and exile the others to the platform.

It sounds like something that would have to be policed by a private coast guard. They might be screwed if a foreign nation declared war on them lol.

Interesting, though I doubt they have anything resembling a libertarian constitution seeing as it was formed by Brits.

I said these "nations" would degenerate into anarchy, no matter how enlightened the concept of no laws, no regulations, and no moral codes may seem to some.

I know what libertarians stand for, and I've voted for a few Libertarian candidates before.

I didn't read the article to mean that this idea would have "no laws, regulations, or moral code". I assumed it would have all of those things, minimalist as they may be.

Because there are too many welfare recipiants that the government would enable to take up arms in threat of their entitlements being revoked.
