  • Officer killed after pointing taser at man's dogs...

A police officer killed while responding to a domestic disturbance in a small eastern Pennsylvania borough had pointed a stun gun at two dogs before being shot, court records reveal.

Freemansburg police officer Robert Lasso had pointed at the attacking dogs when the homeowner pulled out a shotgun and fired the fatal blast on Thursday evening.

In police custody, the alleged gunman, 46-year-old George Hitcho Jr, said he had told Mr Lasso to get off his property and not come on unless he had a warrant, authorities said.

Killed: Robert Lasso was shot dead as he attended a domestic disturbance

'He tried to kill my dogs and pointed a gun in my face,' Hitcho said, according to the documents. 'I do not care if you a cop or not ...Unbelievable.'

Police Chief George Bruneio, who arrived after Mr Lasso requested assistance, instructed him to 'shoot the dogs' and that's when the homeowner pulled out a shotgun and fired, authorities said.

Robert Lasso, 31, was shot in Freemansburg, Pennsylvania, after the alleged gunman told him to get off his property. George Hitcho is accused of then pulling out a shotgun and firing the fatal blast.

I would love to hear the outcome of this case. Wonder if there is dash cam footage? Never said what the disturbance was. Besides the owner have a loose screw in his head.

While I'm not glad an officer lost his life, I am glad a citizen stood up. Seriously, he told the officer to get off his property and come back with a warrant. The officer was ten going to shoot his dogs. And the man says the cop pointed a gun at his face.

Imagine he hadnt shot the cop, but the cop killed his dogs and harassed the guy. Nearly all of you would be preaching about how you would have greeted the officer with a gun, and how you would check the cops authority. You can't play both sides of the fence.

The level of force is definately in question. Even an engineer can see that. Lucky I wasn't a backup on that. I would have planted him in the ground and been fully justified, by any court.

I have never, ever seen a post where someone claimed they would point a gun at a cop here. Not for any reason. Show me one.

Wow. Catch up on your case law you moron. A responding officer to a call for service on a disturbance has the legal right to be on said property. The officer has a duty to protect people/property/animals which is why he deployed the tazer on the dogs. To keep them from killing each other.

The home owner is completely in the wrong here.

Why should a cop be allowed on your property, without warrant, and be allows to drop your animals? There has to be some control. It's sa to me that people have to do this.
