I'd love to check it out. I'm prepared, but nothing like what I believe you to be.

I've got several parcels of land in various states, and ammo a plenty, but the food and transportation is where I'm lacking.

I don't have a cabin or property to run to but I keep dry foods (long shelf life) in case of emergency. I have a small 1500 watt generator, 10 gals of gas, 6 handguns, 2 rifles, 20 gauge, air rifle for small game/birds and zombie children, around 1200 rounds ammo ( I know I need more) plenty of camping gear (3 tents) a carbed 650 ATV 4x4, 3 water containers, fire starters, plenty of batteries (if they keep), 2-6 pack propane, lanterns and some maps. been meaning to sit down and come up with some kind of plans (a & b,c) but need rondezvous spots for the family to meet in case of communication breakdown.

We are in Haslet. Likeminded people pooling knowledge is a great idea but I fear that bringing too many people "into the fold" if you will or letting too many folks know your details may compromise security.

There are a few here that know where I live and I feel I could trust each one to know that my castle is not the easy target they might go looking for, you still need to think about your own security.

On the other hand, having a "hive" as many preppers refer to it as; a group of people who poses individual skill set or materials that will allow for a better sustainment of life as a whole for the group, is a good thing also. Think; carpenter, medical professional like a nurse or EMT even military medic, engineer, electrician, hunter, MacGyver type; would all come in handy when combined to keep a small community functioning.

Food for thought (no pun intended), I read somewhere that there is only enough food supplies on any grocery store shelves to last 7 days. Imagine how that number will be knocked well below that if the masses think there won't be any food left come next week. If a break down in society occurs do you think the food trucks will continue to move? Doubt it.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

something you don't hear to many people bring up is tools.
i have all of my grandfathers hand tools, bit braces, bits, hand saws, hell i can do a by hand lumber mill if need be. plus stock in nails screws etc.
i also have a 15 gallon still (portable) for distilling water, alcohol for drink or fuel. and with the still you can distill, cook your food and create heat all at one time

Water storage options. Not just for TEOTWAWKI, but power outages or water shortages during short natural disasters. Buy several, they are cheap, build a folding/collapsible containment box out of plywood and hinges and you can use these blivets in other places besides just your tubs. Hell, this is what my familiy members that don't live with us are getting for Christmas (you wanna hide at my place, bring your own water bag) If you are housing more guests under one roof, lay a peice of plywood over your blivot container and you know have a flat spot for someone to sleep.
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discount firearms, parts to build your next gun and more.

If you have the space and more importantly the funds, this holds 250gal. It would be nice to plumb this into your line between your meter and water heater and have a constant cycling of water at all times. SHTF, switch of one valve and switch on another.
Mountain House & Saratoga Farms Freeze Dried Food Storage Meals have a long shelf life, and are easy to prepare. Food storage has never been so easy!

                        Long term food options.
I like the Wise food containers, they are square and stackable. CTD carries them in stock. This is a what a quick search brings up and is very user friendly for determining how much you need for how long you need and for how many folks you need for.

I guess in some respects I did bug out. My goal, if shit flew through the blades of the fan, was to get to higher elevation. I'm now about 2.5 hrs highway/4 back roads to my cabin, although I would prefer to purchase a place that is a bit more remote, looking at land up around Guffey, CO.

Needs: vehicle, stockpile, camping/hiking gear, etc. I'm sure if it ever happens I won't feel prepared enough.
