I'll partially agree with that, but care to address the validity of the rest of my post?

Few breakthroughs? Just take a look at what you can do with a cell phone and tell me innovation and creativity and originality are going away.

Rehashing other people's stuff in media? Well, they're in the business of entertaining people. If something new and creative flops, it costs them money.

I don't see the current technology of cell phones and hand-held devices as "breakthroughs", is it is the same technology that we have had for 20 years, just smaller and faster. There isn't anything monumentally different about it. Just my opinion though, yours may be different. This whole thread is about opinions anyways.

I think the advancement and wide spread use of touch screens has been pretty amazing. I don't think anyone would have thought we could completely do away with books and handle all our day to day computer type tasks via a handheld touch screen.

Star Trek was a few hundred years off.

You can point your phone camera at a restaurant and see reviews overlaid on it. Not a breakthrough?

If you knew more technically about what all goes into making things smaller, I think your opinion would change. Actually, if you new more technically about anything you opinion would change.

                    SIM cards
                    T9
                    Capacitive touch screens
                    Apps
                    OLEDs

All stuff going into mobile devices that is creative.

Now if you look at other areas it gets even better. I work in defense, I could give you awesome examples of creativity.

Not to me, I don't think it comes close to being a breakthrough. The splitting of the atom, pioneering in flight, breaking the sound barrier-breakthroughs... adding photographic matching software to a hand-held computer device, not so much.

I guess you are lacking creativity in understanding what else that technology can do for us.

As I mentioned before a couple of times, I really wasn't describing technological creativity in my first post, the original post, I was describing lack of originality in completely subjective perspectives. Music, poetry, art, movies, fashion, etc.

Lol...damn you need some educating. The real problem here is that you don't understand enough to even see the creativity. Learn the history of flight, and how long that took...

To some of us, design is an art. To the others...well they're still looking for a job.
