Also remember hearing one of the "third generation" welfare mom, while visiting the father of her rats at the state school (prison for underage thugs), that she only had to have one more kid and then she would not have to work. She had 1, prego with #2, and was not 17 yet.

Another gov program that really works.

I have always believed that if someone is not disabled/elderly/underage, not working and getting food stamps/welfare/assistance, they should be required to do community service, with the amount of community service per week based on how much assistance they get from the government. Nearly all community service work involves no skills, so even the idiots could do it.

Just being forced to do community service would cause many to stay off it.

I love cleaning toilets for the same people I'm supporting through my taxes!
I've got rentals and I'm avoiding section 8 like the plague.

I'm pretty sure if they don't pay you the 100/month they agree to that they will lose the benefit of rent assistance.

My wife managed a apartment complex while in college that had rent assistance buildings along with market apartments. They would provide cable for a few dollars a month. She actually had a woman lose her rent assistance due to not paying the cable fee. She also had one woman who had to pay $10 a month rent who was late every other month. The late fee was $25/day after 5 days of being late.

I am all for cutting it off after two years or so. At some point we will have more dependents than we can afford.

I've never been unfortunate enough to need to rely on the government tit, and I'm thankful for that. I don't understand those that are okay with it.

There is a simple fix for this problem. There is only one option on welfare.. family. Kind of like when your purchased insurance from your work... you have single, married, and family. No matter how many kids they have.... they get the same benefits whether it is one or 10. Then they might rethink having another kid.
