Have you tried bolt on motors in south dallas? They tend to have a supply of motors there. I haven't bought one yet, but my neighbor has and its still running..Going on 2 years without a problem.

Why were you doing a tune on a daily driver when you're flat broke? The last thing in the world you need to do is fuck up your only car trying to hot rod it.

I have no idea what spark advance and a/f ratio look like on my Dodge and I don't care either...

I wasnt aware that the intake was that kind of issue. Thought it just spewed some coolant outside the motor and since I didnt see any coolant leaks I went with it.

Because from doing research I have found some people having troubles with knock retard with these constant 104*+ days and too much knock retard can chip pistons before the computer can react. We were simply adding more fuel to eliminate that threat.
Was not a performance tune, no rev limits raised, no shift points changed, no timing adjustment. Only fuel enrichment to help the motor.

Was just bad timing.... no pun intended.

No, I ment too much. There is detonation and the car commands how much retard it needs. The more it has to reduce the more knock. The more knock the more the chances are of chipping a piston. Adding fuel up top helps to reduce the knock which will reduce the knock sensors activity. Reduced knock also means reduced chance of cipping a piston.

I am pretty sure you still have your timing descriptions backwards.

You are right, what I should have said is the more knock the more it ruduces timing. My bad for reversing that. Car only ever sees 16* total timing so reducing timing to reduce the KR function would make the car a dog and fall flat on its face. Just adding a little more fuel up top helps reduce the detonation so the knock sensors dont have to come into play.

                      He does.

I think what they did was tune the car based on knock retard timing events and wideband. They failed to do the most important step, which is to check the spark plugs. However, what he's saying is the knock sensors were pulling too much timing. And they tried to tune it to where they would be less active, thus indicating that there was less indication of detonation. It's just a really backwards way to say not enough fuel or timing retard was the cause of the problem. He's looking at as the knock sensors where pulling a lot of timing (his word: too much) and that was indicating moderate to severe detonation. They tried to add fuel to compensate, but it didn't pan out.

He's got the right idea, but his is the dyslexic version.

Yeah, as stated in the post above yours. LOL!

                        I am sofa king!

Seemed to make sense to me. Too little fuel, have knock, add fuel, reduce knock.

And for the record I was throwing a temper tantrum when I made this thread. I dont really hate GM.... for the most part. I was just being bitchy.

At least I didnt delete the thread.

Yea, you beat me to it. I started typing the reply and had to go to the shitter before I could finish. And I never refresh the page, I just hit submit.

At any rate, good luck with your car situation. I think everyone here knows what it feels like to go through a run of bad luck.

Well I am back on with Kyle. Now I just gotta figure out when and how to get back up there and make it run then drive it back. Hopefully my buddy in Waco has a slow day where he can get off early and drive me up.

Then starts the fun. I hope to get both of the cars noses in the carport together and drop the entire subframe with the drivetrain and steering still attached and just swap them under the cars. I also hope the AC lines run over the trans so I dont loose all my new and expensive r134.

My wife's old Malibu blew a HG, they said it was common for those motors we had less than 100k on it when it did.
