  • Things to do in San Antonio

Taking a 3 day trip to San Antonio soon, what are some cool things to do you guys would recommend? I was stationed there during Tech School but did not get downtown too often.

I know the obvious like the river walk and the Alamo, but any other suggestions? No kids, but my wife is 3 months pregnant so we won't be going to any theme parks for roller coaster rides.

Any bad-ass gun shops in the area?
Awesome restaurants we must check out?
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Sex with an Asian woman is great, but 30 minutes later you're horny again.

My personal favorite restaurants there are La Fonda and Aldaco's.

La Fogata on Vance Jackson for Mexican food.
Bun 'n' Barrel has great burgers and used to have cruise nights every week.
Josephine Street Cafe for killer steaks and whisky.
Lulu's Jailhouse Cafe for 3 lb cinnamon rolls and chicken fried steak.
Edit: Apparantly Lulu's made it on Man vs. Food, so their traffic has dramatically increased and their food has increased in price and decreased in quality. Unfortunately, because we used to go as a group in HS and go to town on their cinnamon rolls.

Anyone know if people still meet up at the pig stand, or if it is even still around?

That was pretty cool on Friday nights. It was a old drive in and they would do car shows every Friday (maybe Saturday) nights.

While the Riverwalk can be a little too touristy (real word?), there is an open air piano bar (Durty Nellys) and a jazz bar (forgot name) worth visiting.

It's back open and yes people still meet up there. Just tends to be an older crowd. The new place on Friday nights for the car scene is Biff Buzby's. It's on the north east side of town.

Very cool. Do they still do the crazy big cruise nights at BnB? That was a huge part of my childhood.

Bigz Burger Joint in N. SA on 1604 has bad ass burgers. If you like TX history, go to the other missions. Look up info on the Mission Trail. There is another mission that puts the Alamo to shame.
