I went on 5-6 dates with girls from POF, and every one of them was much more overweight than their pics portrayed. I changed my profile to say something to the effect of "if all of your pics are taken with you looking up at the camera to make your face look skinnier, please do not message me".

I don't think there's anything "weird" or socially unacceptable about dating sites though.

I haven't gone so far as to put it in my profile, but it's very obvious to pick out the girls that are bigger, and trying to hide it.

What I don't get, is that this isn't Facebook or Myspace. You are on the site to find someone that wants you specifically. Posting those pics is wasting everybody's time.

My only saving grace is that I prefer smaller, and genuine women. If there's a hint that something's awry, I pass.

Yeah, their underlying fear is that you'll think they're fat and won't like em, so they post a deceptive pic in hopes hat it'll somehow fool us. Great way to make a first impression.

Just curious to see what's new in the online dating world. I haven't had much time lately to really invest much in it. I've used it once or twice while working out of state to meet some new squirrel but no luck really. Any marriages or new horror stories since this thread was last visited?

I have done E-harmony, Match, and now dabbling with plentypoffish. I would suggest the last one. Free and a lot more women. I just got home from a 3rd date with one. Diggin her.

I'm getting married in August to a beautiful, talented, and genuine music teacher that I met on Match.com a year ago. The irony is that neither of us were really putting any effort into the site at the time, it just happened. Her best friend actually pretty much set up the profile and "winked" at me, which started the small talk, and it snowballed from there.

The fact that I am about to be trapped for the rest of my life is the horror story I suppose. heh

I have found the service industry bars/hangouts to be easy pickings. Not too many train wrecks or cougars.
