  • Gas vs Oil

Last time Oil was around $80 dollars a barrel gas was trading around $2.10 a gallon and gas followed right along with oil until about January 2011. Now it is trading for about $2.75 a gallon when oil is back at $80.

(Trading price is not what you pay at the pump)

You know there are separate factors involving the price of gas and the price of oil, right?

Yes, but notice how the trends used to fall in line with each other. I also notice how that excuse is only used when Oil is going down and gas isn't. The minute oil goes up gas goes up.

They actually decoupled after we hit peak oil, but most of the board will call me crazy for that one too.

We are learning to make all oil-based things synthetic now.. when will we with gasoline?

Better yet, find a way to turn recycled oil into unleaded gasoline.

That is easy with diesel fuel. Filter it and dump it in. I have a friend who rebuilds transmission that runs his old 6.9 ford on almost nothing but transmission fluid and used motor oil. He puts $10 in fuel in each tank.
