<-- Not one complaint about my 5.0 and i've had it a few months and put 2k on it.
I don't just go buy a $30,000+ car based on emotion.

I read and read now, people complaining quite a bit on Corral, Manual tranny, front end noise, #8 cylinder issues, etc...

Yup, at least that's what they called it back in the day. Computer aided gear selection or some shit.

It sucks! Always hated it... on GM there was a small plug in module that plugged into a tranny harness to bypass it. I think they were like $30 in 1995.

        What front end noise?
And the tranny I would think is more people powershifting and ALL stock transmisions will fail, ask me how I know. Also the #8 problems are because of canned tunes.

11 months 9200 miles. Skip shift has activated once. Transmission works fine.

Mine has sounded like shit since putting about 2k miles on it. At first popping and clunking while going over uneven pavement, and then the struts squeaking like they're worn out. I've taken it in several times and the dealership tells me it's normal, or that they don't hear anything.

It pisses me off, but nearly as much as the last time I took it in when my Fuel Pump Module failed as described by TSB 10-21-03. That was a complete nightmare to have fixed.

I guess i need to pay attention, but I havent heard anything and im near 3k miles. And the FPM your talking about was for the 05-09 GT's right? Or the 11-12's?

11s for sure, I don't know about 12's too. I've got a 2011 GT. Basically the fuel gauge drops to zero because it doesn't equalize fuel levels on the two sides of the saddle tank. I figured no big deal until I ran out of gas one day in the middle of the 121/114 construction area in Grapevine when I thought I still had a couple of gallons remaining, which I did. Here's the TSB: http://mustangsdaily.com/blog/wp-con...sb10-21-03.pdf

The dealership told me that the clunking noises, which sound similar to what I've heard when a control arm bushing goes bad, were likely due to tolerances being off. They said they've replaced entire front suspensions, and never resolved the problem and that Ford Engineering has described it as a normal characteristic of the vehicle. They said everything was mechanically sound. The clunking on my car finally resolved itself after about 12k miles or so - but the struts still sound terrible.

My 98' Viper GTS has the same skip shift feature from the factory and it's annoying as hell,i use to just wait till the light went off and go to second gear. That sould be easily removable with a simple hand held tuner.

He was obviously granny shifting and not double clutching.

Feds launch Mustang transmission probe after Jalopnik, forum stories

Feds launch Mustang transmission probe after Jalopnik, forum storiesEarlier this year we told you about a rising number of Ford Mustang owners complaining of faulty manual transmissions that Ford can't seem to fix. Now U.S. safety regulators have opened a defect probe into 26,000 cars.

As MustangDaily noted, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Sunday it was opening the probe based on 32 complaints to the agency about the MT82 transmissions built by a Ford-Getrag joint venture in China. NHTSA has been interviewing some of those who complained, and was worried enough to launch an investigation:

Some reports allege incidents occurred while merging into high speed traffic and others allege that incidents occurred while turning left across oncoming traffic. Some complainants allege that the erratic shifting behavior almost caused a collision with adjacent vehicles.

No crashes or injuries have been reported to NHTSA from the transmissions.

While a NHTSA preliminary investigation won't automatically lead to a recall, it will force Ford to tell NHTSA how widespread the problem is, and what steps if any Ford may have taken to tackle it. One insider gave us a possible explanation blaming Ford's efforts to save money by using an older design of Getrag transmission. That design had a drawback - a gear rattle, which Ford engineers quieted by requiring a thicker transmission fluid.

Except the thicker fluid causes some of the gears to slip, creating extra wear and missed or notchy shifting. On top of those problems, some of the bolts holding the clutch can loosen because Ford didn't specify bolt thread locker. Ford has switched back to a different transmission fluid, but that makes the rattle come back.

While Ford has said it was working with customers, some Mustang owners have been told by Ford that noisy or notchy shifting is just how the transmissions are supposed to work. That's one way to fix the problem.
a mustang with a noisy transmission? since when did that start happening?

I had a buddy with HP Tuners just change the throttle position where it comes on to less than 1%, I think mine was 13% from the factory. Then you will never see it again.
