i've thought about karts too, but my problem with that is there's nothing remotely close to me for something like that. I'm still keeping all of my options open at this point, but i personally really like the body style of the mini sprints/dwarfs/legends. i like open wheel type stuff in the dirt. just looks cool. I'm cool with requiring driver skill to be competitive, i'd rather it be about skill then $$$. I dont want to get into something that's slow as hell, because i am used to fast cars. getting into something slow as balls and crawling around a track wouldnt be that entertaining to me. thats why i'm trying to find that healthy medium between $$$$ and fun. LOL

modifieds are cool and all, but i've watched enough people race and just get burned out on that. thats some serious cash in those cars (to really be competitive)

hell yeah.. pretty crazy, and really gives the sponsored/big money teams a huge advantage because they can build multiple motors and not really care about losing a claimed motor. i'm trying to stay away from all that lol

I've got a fullsized sprint and I'm in Waco, if you want to get together and chat about it sometime shoot me a PM. My knowledge is limited, but I'll help you where I can.

By the way, Mini sprints are fast, but IMO, they don't look near as cool as this

Look at southern sportmods, full imca mods are not a beginner class unless you like getting your ass kicked. Only pussies claim engines, and they never claim fords.

Legends/dwarfs competitive engines cost more than sport mods and are fragile.

Mini sprints have the same fragile engines, but being 600cc they are waaaaay cheaper to buy out of the bike.

Lol at a beginner goin ape shit with a 4 bar late model. Tryin to kill this guy?

A buddy of mine says claiming his motor is one thing, getting out of the parking lot with it is another.

I would never race a modified anyway. not really my style. My goal would be (ultimately) to race sprint cars, and thats only if i even dug dirt track. I've done alot of drifting on dirt roads and stuff but thats about it. LOL! i've found a couple of dwarf cars for sale in the 3500-5000 price range that are pretty local, i'm gonna take a look at them. i figure if i do some hot lapping at least i'll figure out if its something i'm even remotely talented at. Season's gonna be over sooner then later so i might just wait for the season to end and pick something up at the end of the season and practice with it where ever i can find a place so that i'm not a total newb at the beginning of the new season.

Between my dad, and 2 uncles not to mention the numerous cousins and second uncles, my family has probably 50+ championships, and 1000+ feature wins. hobby stock would be the cheapest way to get started, the dwarf class you speak of is more referred to legends they are fun, but more so on asphalt rather then dirt. Mini sprints tend to be more high maintenance as are any other sprint classes. Not to mention they require much more driver skill to be competitive. For a novice id recommend hobby or factory stock or even mini stock. mini stock is typically fox mustangs with 2.3 4 cylinders or 80's toyota celicas with 22r 4 cylinder engines. As mentioned decide which track you would run at, and check out their rules and regulations for each class and go from there. Devils bowl use to be a super nice and smooth track, and there are a few tracks in southern oklahoma that are pretty nice, although they are older and tend to get dry slick and chew up tires, so keep that in mind..
You heard of my buddy Chad cavett?
