unless it resold for more in a year or two...

But batteries are effing expensive, and can go bad at random. Especially when you start talking these technologies. I don't know design specifics on this particular car, but I doubt they took as smart of an approach on this one as they did the volt. I know the barttery suppliers I work with don't warrant a battery past 1-2 years. A 2008 tahoe has 4 year old batteries. But if you can do a battery state of health check showing greater than 90% retention, you will probably be safe.

I probably just added confusion, but at least it'll help you make a more informed decision.

Being Texas, most of us drive on the highway more than constant stop and go inner city driving. I'd say I spend closer to 70-80% of my driving on the highway versus stop and go city driving.

          Definitely need the 3rd row,.
Yep. It's on buzzo's car lot in Mansfield right now on consignment if you wanna look at it asking 22k but I'd take 20k.

2007, Tahoe, LT with NAV and DVD system in back for kiddos, leather, 91k miles from driving Lubbock to Dallas and back for 2 years, got 9k miles left on bumpter to bumper factory warranty and has 3rd row seating.

When I do 60mph I get 21-ish in it fwiw. A blackbear tune will yield another 1-2 mpg.

Stop by his lot and take a look at it and shoot me a pm if your interested.

Everything sounds perfect except the mileage. If I'm going to get something different, it's going to have lower miles. Thanks, though.

Get a 2010 Touareg from VW...TDI! relatively cheap for what you get.. the 2011 are pricey but nicer ..

Then go to INmotion tuing's website and get the ECM tuned... nearly 30mpg and tons of torque, lots of room and a damn ncie ride...

Screw HYBRID anything.. its all a joke...

My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD (yes Diesel). averages 26-27 mpg and is a great ride.. the space isn;t as well thought out as the VW but its damn impressive on the hwy and in the city.

If you need a 3rd row seat SUV, Look at a Q7 TDI from AUDI.. of course that would put you in DFW BALLER status..

Regarding the DPF and emaissions stuff. its not that big of a deal and not many tuners (actually i know ZERO) will turn off the DPF regen process, but honestly its nice to not see the soot from a diesel...

The tahoes are nice but as a GM tech stay away from hybrids. When it breaks down no mom and pop shop will have the nerve or knowledge to work on them so the dealership is the only place to take them. Plus, hybrids is just another fad and will fade away in a few years.

it's absolutely a big deal with the heavy duty trucks... they have tons of turbo and DPF problems. they all go away when you get rid of all that shit.

Thanks-the more I read about hybrids, the more afraid of them I get. Appreciate the info.

These fuel costs are based on Regular - 3.71/gallon, and Premium - 3.96/gallon and 45% highway/55% city driving

Not that big of a difference to spend any more money on one.
My brother has a hybrid Tahoe that they bought new a few years ago. It's not worth the money. They get an average of about 17-18 mpg when they do day to day driving (probably 60% in town). They get around 23 mpg on trips. Those are real numbers, not from an article, so I can vouch for them. He's already said if he had it to do over again that he wouldn't get the hybrid.

What a lot of people dont know is that tech in the Tahoe is joint venture between GM, BMW and Honda (if I remember correctly).

My dad ran the program at Regency for applying all the Hybrid graphics on the GM hybrid trucks. All those Escalades and Tahoes passed under the hands of my old man. In other words, they're doomed.

You might save a few hundred bucks in gas every year, but you'll more than make that up in outrageous maintenance and repair costs when it needs work. If in a few years there is a major flaw with all of them, you're not going to be able to resell it.
When the government pays, the government controls.

                                Well, the stats are:
                                Hybrid-21/24
                                Regular Tahoe-14/19

I put 30k on my car in less than a year. I'm in it all.the.time, so 6mpg is enough of a difference to notice, but not sure if it offsets the cost of going hybrid to begin with.

My mom has one that she has had for two years now 09 model.

Doesn't get 24 mpg on the hwy for sure. I swear her sticker said the around town was higher than the highway.

She averages around 19-20 mpg in mixed driving, which is a great improvement. Hasn't had a single issue and she is about to hit 50k miles. I wouldn't own it out of warranty though.
