in my opinion if you are gonna go green or more efficient but still want lots of room go all the way. get a tdi jetta wagon that gets 30/42 mpg and still has of room for 3 kids and 2 dogs(roof mounted cargo box for luggage on road trips)

if that's not your style or still not enough room then like others have mentioned, just get a normal 'hoe. that's my .02 anyway

*edit: oh and just your luck i looked on vw.com and the tdi jetta wagons have a msrp for 25k... so you can afford to hook a messican up with some dollas for giving you that awesome idea to get one

I'm not familiar with TDI tuning. Do they have shelf programmers that will allow for deletes?

according to Government fuel economy ratings

            2008 - 2WD Tahoe 6.0L V8 Hybrid 21 city/22 hwy
Est Average Annual Fuel Cost - $2400 (Regular grade)

            2008 - 2WD Tahoe 4,8L V8 14 city/19 hwy
Est Average Annual Fuel Cost - $3400 (Regular grade)

            2008 - 2WD Tahoe 5.3L V8 14 city/20 hwy
Est Average Annual Fuel Cost - $3400 (Regular grade)

            2008 - 2WD Tahoe 6.2L V8 12 city/19 hwy
Est Average Annual Fuel Cost - $4200 (Premium grade)

These fuel costs are based on Regular - 3.71/gallon, and Premium - 3.96/gallon and 45% highway/55% city driving

Not that big of a difference to spend any more money on one.

My boss has one, not sure on year. He loves his. I talked to him about it a while back, and I do not remember the actual mileage, I do remember being somewhat impressed.

I think we had a brief conversation about it once. There are off the shelf marine pcm's for the 4-bangers and the V6's, so there's that route. Just surfing google, there's this:

Anyone have personal experiences with the 2008? Any known issues/recalls? Also looking to see if people actually get the 21/24 mpg that Chevy says it gets.

                  Thanks

                    ....

Ed Wallace from Fox4 test drove one for a week and said the gas mileage ended up not any better than a regular one.

Buy a non-hybrid and not worry about a costly repair down the road.

I agree about going non hybrid on a used vehicle.

However everyone saying an increase of 14 to 21 isn't significant must have taken their math at aarons school. Thats a 50% increase. Given some peoples gas bills, it's a significant amount. But if you drive all highway that's a different story.

Does it have Nav and leather? Two necessities I have to have.

Definitely need the 3rd row, but I would prefer bench seats so we would put all 3 kids in the middle row and put gear/dogs in the back.

That's what I was thinking, but when you consider I usually only keep a car a year or two, the cost of a hybrid (if it is $6-$8k more than a regular one) wouldn't offset the fuel difference unless I kept it a lot longer.
