  • Inspection ticket in Highland Park (inspection was way out)

Okay, I know, I'm guilty, blah blah blah. Inspection on the daily was way out and I just kept putting it off (I know, I'm a terrible citizen, etc.), I think it expired in 3/11 or 4/11, anyways, my fiance was driving it and got pulled over/ticketed for it. Now, the ticket is $147 and worst case no biggie, I'll pay it, but is there anything I can say to get it dropped this far out? I have weak moral imperative when it comes to paying the state (especially Highland Park) so don't let the truth get in the way here

Think the old, "it's a backup car that is rarely driven and didn't notice it was expired" trick could work?

Usually they will drop it if you take care of it immediately. Not a guarantee though.

Brent, in most municipalities, if it's over 60 days it's not a "fix it ticket". He'll have to show proof that he corrected the registration, and then pay the fine with his plea.

Man, I drove around for 10 months with an '09 sticker. Never got a single hassle about it.
Then all of the sudden, I get pulled over three times in three days, and get ticketed. I thought it was simply a "fix it ticket" but that only applies for 90 days.

I had it with me in Colorado, so it wasn't an issue till I came back home.

Locally, I have always had to pay a $10 court cost after getting the inspection done immediately after the ticket.

Not sure if that's how it works in your neck of the woods or not.

Either way I'll take care of it, the car is 100% legal (sans front plate), so it's just an issue of actually doing it. I guess one way to look at is 40 bucks for an inspection / 12 months = $3.33 a month, I got an extra 6 months or about $20 bucks worth of inspection to offset my 150 dollar ticket...

What, I'm trying to be positive.

Wait, so I can stretch the inspection out to 15 months without any kind of fine? My truck expired last month, I was putting it off to get an extra free month.

I see. I've never been ticketed for one that was that far out. So ignore what I said. Lol. And yeah, there is usually a $10-20 fee in getting it dismissed.

Haha. Yeah, inspection/registration are two things that are pretty hard to overlook. They're sitting in front of you every time a person is in the car.

Wonder if she can pull any leniency since it isn't her car (and we have different last names currently).

So this is what it feels like to be a criminal!
