Blackouts happen, just like storms knocking out power lines, drunks wrecking in to them, etc. You don't pay for electricty when your power is out. That is your compensation.

Which I agree with, involuntary blackouts happen.

But for these "mandatory" blackouts, or rolling brownouts, whatever they want to call them. You'd think that retailers would put ERCOT on the hook for them. In fact I bet they do, they just don't pass any of the kickbacks to the customer.

We hear all this shit about rolling black outs because of high usage. Then tell a stupid country boy why we burn all the street lights up and down the controlled access highways for 10 miles out of the cities. I have been driving since I was 16, and every thing I drove with the exception of a 1937 John Deere "B" had head lights. Sounds like another "Brother In Law " deal to me.

Why not just cut the power for 15 minutes per hour in the ghetto every hour of the day. As big as dallas is you have to have a big section of ghetto.

Ok, so ours was not an intentional blackout... apparently the heat caused a transformer blew out...... so ignore my......... no fuck it... still sucked that we didnt have shit for power for that long.

for the people that are seriously bitching about 15-20 minutes without power:

get a fucking life outside tv/computer/video games. seriously, it's not that big a deal

i do feel for the people that have to sit for hours with no power though, that shit sucks. been there done that and don't wanna do that again. my only advice is get a small generator that will power a 110 unit, refrigerator and maybe a fan or radio

if you have the money spend a few g's and get a generator system that will kick on automatically and power your entire home
