My buddy busted out a new window unit and told me to give it a try, he has them laying around from when his ac unit went kaboom a few years back, and he uses them to help when he has parties. Damn and I just foiled up the main front windows so much for my test. None of this is out in the open, I wouldnt want to drag home values down or anything. We will see how well it supplements the main unit. Both still on 78 though.
What i think is FANTASTIC.. every summer and winter we are in condition red.. yet most HOA's WONT let you put solar panels on your roof.
I've been trying to convince my wife of getting some for our place and she thinks the HOA will block it, so I'm looking to see if we can get some ground types.
You guys running your shit at 75 and under are pathetic.
Lighten up the load and turn it up, do your part you will survive.
We had a roller at my office in NRH earlier, just in time for a huge Java update we are rolling out tonight.
I pay for my electricity, and get to use it as I please. Maybe if the power companies weren't such cheap asses, they would made the changes needed over the last few years, when these every year summer rolling blackouts started in Texas?

Summer rolling blackouts haven't occurred in Texas every year. This year is the first for North Texas, and only the second in history. The power companies aren't necessarily the ones being cheap asses, since it's the customers who will bitch and moan the loudest to state regulators if their rates have to go up to pay for more capacity.
Maybe there needs to be mandatory SLA's that power companies have to write into their contracts with consumers, to provide X amount of uptime on power, or pay the customer for their outages. I bet then capacity planning would be different.

These outages have nothing to do with Retail Electricity Providers. This is on ERCOT and a lack of sufficient power generation. In theory it actually hurts us retailers. When the power is off we aren't getting paid.
Is it just a woman thing to turn on every damn light in the house?
I come home to a wife cooking in the kitchen 4 out of 5 days! We go out on Friday.
BUT..... the bedroom TV and fan are on, the living room TV and fan are on, and the fan in the dining room near the kitchen is on. I make my rounds turning shit off as soon as I walk in the door.

Well you would think retailers would have mandatory SLA's with ERCOT as well.

Blackouts happen, just like storms knocking out power lines, drunks wrecking in to them, etc. You don't pay for electricty when your power is out. That is your compensation.
