Seb, while ELVIS may be a real scumbag 99% of the time, he's a standup dad in my opinion. I'd definitely take his advice when it comes to how to handle this situation from a father/son standpoint.

This is a little dog & has always been a outside dog & he stays outside 24/7 unless its Freezing cold.

He is a Boston Mixed with something. He was a stray & was given to Peyton

I wonder if the dog had any conditions/age? That is a smaller breed of dog for sure. If the dog was used to being outside then I'd have to think it really was all about the lack of water provided.

My mom and dad both had different views when it came to things like this, but in the end I value the hard knock lessons my dad instilled in me a bit more when it comes to these lessons. I also value the compassion, love, understanding, and nurturing my mother would give me after I had to bury a dog in a situation like this.

My thinking as well. The lessons a man taught me as a child always sunk in deeper then the ones my mother tried to teach me. Moms are always soft & want to be easy & gentle about things. Hell I would laugh when my mom spanked me. But when my Dad got involved. I knew it wasnt a laughing matter anymore.

I need to talk with his mother on what to do. But right now I think the best thing to do is for him to sit in his room in the quiet and think about what happened & why Jasper is gone.

Not really. What about kids that hunt from a young age? Pushing off responsibility only makes kids softer.

My kids hunt and have killed, they fish, they understand about life and death, they have chores, I have hard and fast rules at home....and I don't blame my children for my short comings.


My kids aren't going to be pussies ... I try to teach them to think with their brains instead of their fists and later on I'll implement how to not think with their dick so much.

The point of this thread is to teach a lesson here with a broken hearted little boy who failed to take care of his dog & how to prevent it from ever happening again & for him to value animals & pass this lesson to his children when he grows up.

I still have no real clear cut way on how to handle this.... .this isnt the first time this has happened. But I sure want to make it the last....

Making sure they never have another animal is a 100% guarantee that this will never happen again. I suggest they go with that.

My pets die of old age - not gross negligence.

This is just sad. Short nosed breeds do not handle heat well. An adult should have been checking up due to the "extreme situation", like this heat. This heat is not normal for a dog or a kid to understand. Hell grown adults area dieing due to it!

I'm doing good for myself. I turn 23 in a month and I've got a decent house I love along with two great dogs that I care for daily and I've got 4 vehicles along with a good job providing me with everything. I'm doing well off for having a criminal record and no education. Keep talking shit though if it makes you happy.

I disagree. Were all dogs brought inside in 1920? No.

In 1920, they didn't have air conditioning in pretty much every home. Hell, they still didn't think it was ok for women to vote or for the negroes to use the same crapper as the regular decent folk.

Just because something was being done one way almost 100 years ago, doesn't mean it should still be done the same way now.

If you have a pet, you should use everything at your disposal to make sure it doesn't die an unnecessary death. We all have AC and water this day in age, there is no reason why you should leave an animal to bake outside during a record stretch of heat.
