I went to Homezone last year to get a new couch. Then I went to 5-6 other stores that all had the same exact couch starting at $100 more all the way up to $600 more. Went back to Homezone to buy it.
From what I could tell, most of the stores had a lot of the same furniture - and a lot of it is fresh of the both from Vietnam. Just depends how much you want to pay for it.
Probably not the most stylish stuff around, but as far as quality goes, it's holding up well so far.
If you have any intention of keeping it for awhile, and it will be used a lot (living room, bedroom etc), spend some $$$ and get something that will last.
oh the Dump, i forgot about that place. Iv never been but heard of it. Looking at their website, the stuff on their frontpage is style I like. How does this place work, is it all "messed up" stuff or is it all new?

it's new stuff, close out stuff from other businesses. Only open fri. sat. sun.
They hook you in with outrageous ads that they have sold out by Friday afternoon. most of the rest, is kind of pricey
gotta go with garden ridge or big lots. yeah its all imitation stuff but its cheap and looks decent. i bought my stuff there because i have roomies and they don't seem to respect other peoples shit because they aren't the ones who paid for it.
i think i bought a tv stand, imitation brown leather couch, and two microfiber chairs for like 500-600 bucks.
My former wife used to do this... Shop Havertys, Ethan Allen, and all the big fancy places. Drink their free drinks. Eat their free cookies. And leave with a print out of each item you want -- as if you're gonna think about it and come back. Then, go to the one off no name furniture stores. The ones with the owner who barely speaks English. The one with the delivery truck that used to be a U-Haul truck. Take the print out to them and ask them how much if they order it. They have access to the same catalogs as the big name stores but will have a lot less mark up.

He speaks the trooof.
I saved about 3k by using Haverty's as a showroom and then had some greek/slavic dude who was running a "Furniture Store" order the items I wanted. Same stuff, less markup. Started off small so if I did get ripped off it wasn't a big deal (dining room chairs), but everything went off perfectly so I gave him some bigger orders.
Beware of Ashley though - bunch of crap ass furniture there.
That's a little bit jewish, don't ya think? I mean, the slavic dude couldn't afford to have the showroom, so obviously his markup wouldn't have to be as much.
