Show me cases in tx of similar instances being animal cruelty...

No, if you kill a police dog, you're charged with killing an officer. This asshole should be put in jail just as if we would have. Intention be damned. He intended to leave that dog in the squad car

If a 'civilian' left an animal in a hot car and it died, it would mean a cruelty to an animal charge, Class A misdemeanor, a year in jail. If the same civilian kills a police dog under the same or similar circumstances, it is interference of a police service animal, a state jail felony, two years in jail.

If an officer with 11 years experience with a K-9 unit does it, it is a two week non-payed vacation.

    no they wouldn't.

I'm giving Matt a hard time. Anytime a cop does something perceived as wrongdoing, Matt (aka saveapig) comes in saying "Wait a minute guys, we don't know the whole story."

lol...I'm siding with the mob mentality on this one. Clearly a double standard.

Gore was a nice guy, and I'm sure had no intention of this happening. He used to do some work at the schools around town IIRC.

That being said, yes he should face the same penalties as joe q public. Basically he killed an officer of the law, this should be no different than if a civilian killed an officer. Granted it shouldn't be murder, but at least a hefty manLaughter charge.
