I got up in the attic last year about this time and my infrared thermometer said it was 150. I am going to check it out later today and see what it says.

Serious question (not trying to be a dick), on Wiki it shows the hottest temp ever recorded as 136*, which was in Africa in 1922 and shows the hottest it's ever been Iraq was 125.7* in 2010. 149* is a full 13* hotter than the highest temp ever on Earth.

Good point, the question was are you full of shit or are the record books?

I thought the "I'm not trying to be a dick" qualifier allowed me to say whatever without sounding like a dick

149 may not have been an officially recorded temperature. Kind of like people saying it was 115* because the thermometer in their truck said it was. Yet the NWS high may only be 105*. It may actually be 115* but just not documented by anyone "official".

That's what I was wondering. Makes much better sense. The thermo in my car yesterday showed 115* but the high was only 108.8 I believe.

On the channel 4 news at 6 they have a weather question every day and the question yesterday was " What was the hottest recorded temp ever?" They had the answer as 136* Somewhere in Lybia and 134* as the hottest in America which was recorded in Death Valley. DFWM knows everything, you should know that!!!!!!

Our HSE department in Iraq has to pull a wet bulb reading every hour on the hour and then distro it via email to all department heads.

Check with Denny, he will confirm 149* in the summer in Iraq on a wetbulb is 100% fact.

Hang your arm out the window in Taji, Iraq and you litterally think your skin is sizzling. Go sit down in a port-a-jon at noon to take a shit and you will smell your skin burning about the same time you jump on the seat and sit on your hands; even then it still hurts. Go ahead and leave a wrench in the sun for 10 minutes and see if it does not send you to the TMC (clinic) for 1st degree burns; same goes for your rifle.

I am not the only guy on the board to have been in Iraq in the summer. Wiki is full of shit or their information is being measured differently.

Edit: this is from the bulb measurements today at 1400L (Afg) in Bagram
wet bulb = 72* (thermometer exposed to sun and prevailing winds)
                          dry bulb = 112* (thermometer)
black globe = 135* (thermometer in direct rays of sunlight)

...and it is NO WHERE near as hot as it was in Iraq this exact same time last year when I was there.
