It's Texas, it gets hot here, I get that. But I hated living in Vegas with a passion because it was so damn hot and now it seems DFW is hotter than Vegas! I'm not going to bitch about it much though since I don't work outdoors anymore other than doing yardwork at the house.

Speaking of, is anyone else getting huge cracks in their yards? We are getting these huge cracks in the yard and it seems no matter what I do they just keep coming back. I've been filling them up with dirt and watering as much as I can. I've been watering the foundation to the house like crazy to make sure the cracks don't get anywhere near the house.

I will take this heat over any day of the week, that we went thru last winter. That shit was brutal cold. Teens during the day even colder at night and all that ice/wanbe snow stuff suxed ass.

Some places are measuring cracks that are 36"+ in depth. That means the soil has lost its moisture to that depth and beyond. The only way to really help is to water the ground until the soil absorbs moisture until it expands back to normal, which is a bunch of water.

Temps here in the Tulsa area ranged from 108 to 113 at a friends house in Inola. Sucked big time in the hangar tonight. Nothing like having a 3 foot fan blowing 110 degree air on you when your working. I believe we've had 24 or 25 days of temps over 100 in July.

And to hear that my wife went out and trimmed all the bushes around the house today in this heat pissed me off to no end. She "hates to drink water". Bullshit I pound water all day and night to keep hydrated, because it is the safe thing to do in this heat.

So do we in Haslet. It sucks. I need to fix the yard before one of my dogs breaks a leg in our fissures (sp?). I need to get the wife to go hose the foundation tomorrow again.

Next year we are going to have a soaker hose buried all around the house and I don't care how high the water bill is, we are watering a lot more than she has been while I am gone.
