It's Texas, it gets hot here, I get that. But I hated living in Vegas with a passion because it was so damn hot and now it seems DFW is hotter than Vegas! I'm not going to bitch about it much though since I don't work outdoors anymore other than doing yardwork at the house.

Speaking of, is anyone else getting huge cracks in their yards? We are getting these huge cracks in the yard and it seems no matter what I do they just keep coming back. I've been filling them up with dirt and watering as much as I can. I've been watering the foundation to the house like crazy to make sure the cracks don't get anywhere near the house.

No cracks here but I live near a water crossing so the ground isn't as bad. This summer has been brutal for me, seems to be much hotter then the last 5-6 years.

As previously mentioned, it's because you're getting older. Before when you were younger you didn't give a fuck and would go out riding in the crazy heat. Now that you're older, now all you need to do is watch the weather forecast to talk you out of it. lol.

I don't know what it is, but something about the sun/heat just zaps the energy right out of you.

I work out in this heat and its in the 4pm-6pm time period which is the worst part. Damn concrete makes you feel like you're on fire.

This weather sucks for those of us that do not have sprinkler systems. Quite difficult to keep the yard green and healthy with a wallyworld water hose oscillating sprinkler.

I graduated HS in '80 and was on the volunteer fire department. The day it hit 114, we fought a HUGE brush fire in N Johnson County. I learned what heatstroke was that day. I didn't think Hell itself could be any hotter than that day.

This summer is a bitch too. I bet we beat 1980 this year.

The day I turned 20 was the hottest day of 1980 (June 27)...114 degree's. It was still 100 at 9:00 that night. "Moosehead" beer was really popular then, and my buddies had bought me a case of it for my birthday. We made very short work of it and a few more cases to boot. I really liked Moosehead, just didn't care for the antler burns.:wink1:

Hell, my dad still talks about the summer of '80. He was just starting his electrical business, and everyone wanted ceiling fans. That means alot of attic work.
He said he would sweat so much, the money in his wallet would be wet, and he could wring out his leather belt. Said the 2x4's in the attic were so hot, he could barely touch them.

Had this discussion a while back. regular baby (talc) powder turns into paste and the medicated stuff like goldbond had some weird reaction and chemically burned me. It was like it ate the skin off my ballsack, I'll never put that shit in my pants and go outside again.
