I had the same deal with the Saab. CA car and don't have the title. I'm in Iraq, so my wife just got an online title recovery place to get it. I'm not sure how much it was, but if it was even close to expensive, my wife wouldn't have done it.

I don't usually post but I have the same problem with a 1969 camaro. I bought the car about 5 years ago and never had a chance to change over the title. The company I was working for was broken into and they stole all the computers and a ton of papers off my desk (including the title to the car). I was very lucky because the camaro was sitting in the warehouse and they could have taken it pretty easy. I have tried to find information on the owner of the car but have come up short. My wife called our insurance and they told her a bond for the title would be some what cheap but i don't really know how many people would buy a 1969 camaro with a bonded title.

I think it was about $300 total.
