  • Weekend getaway ideas? (Cabin, lake, fishing, etc)

Looking to take the family on a long weekend to find a cabin in the woods somewhere on a lake... Don't know the best areas as we just moved back to the Dallas area last year, but I'm certain some of you guys may know something in the surrounding (N TX, OK, AR) areas.

Any ideas for something like that? Just want to get out and fish, kayak, etc for a weekend coming up...

I didn't goto the lake but if its anything like the town I'd skip it. Tourist trap from hell branson is.

      The scenery is nice.
Id fly into Denver and stay in estes park.

Would love to, but saving up the big(ger) coin for a Virgin Islands trip end of year.

Looking for a quick getaway type (I can drive there with ease) of thing..

Might look into renting a house in Hot Springs for the weekend. We've found rentals on VRBO.com

Double S ranch in the piney woods of east Texas. 1000 acres with cabins on 2 lakes. It's so remote you don't hear cars, planes, no tv service or cell phone reception but the office has dvds that they loan you. It's one of the best places I have ever been to just get away from everything and relax. Oh year, deer walk past all the cabins.

I second broken bow!!! It's a nice escape, but not quite as remote as STRONGNUFFs suggestion.
