I just did about 15-20 miles with a queen size mattress on top of a tahoe. Didn't even use good straps just the twine rope the store had. My top speed was about 60 didn't feel like it would be safe to go any faster. I would recommend two trips but transporting both would work with the proper straps, it would just look silly and it would be a slow ride.

The Tollway has a minimum speed which would make the trip faster, but I don't want to cause any wrecks over it.
WTF is a honey do list? and u FAIL at estimating distances.

Fwiw, having the box spring on top of the mattress worked like a charm. It moved a little when I got above 50 so I just kept it at 45.

I once drove about 200 miles through Colorado with a queen sized mattress and box spring tied to the roof of a 1993 Ford Escort Wagon. You guys are pussies.

Oh, and box spring on top.

You got lucky. I've seen twine break and a mattress go flying before firsthand.

Did this with a loveseat on top of a fiero once. Definitely doable.

I've also driven about 45 miles with a queen size box spring tied to the top of a Tahoe. I used about 100 feet of rope and stuck to back roads.

Little slow on the draw there.

FWIW you guys are all lame, I've done this with a 14' john boat on top of a lifted suzuki samurai. Took all we had to keep it under control when we passed a big rig.
