Had you walked upon those officers while they were in the middle of that fight and you interfered with what they are doing that would be bad news for you. I understand that you feel it's a matter of principle for you.

As citizens when we're having to interact with an officer, we're at the mercy of his/her disposition. If they want to push the issue they can because they've been powered by the state to do so. It really doesn't matter for any reason either. And ALL cops do it, even some of the favorite beloved officers on this site who don't like to be questioned in the manner of the service they provide.
Like anyone else, they are human, most likely abit jaded if not completely. And how could they not be with all of the shit they see on a daily basis? I believe that most people who get into law enforcement do so because they wanted to help in the beginning. Over time they seem to forget what their job is becoming jaded and completely forgetting all sense of compassion.
It's a difficult job we ask them do but if they can't do it then they shouldn't be doing it.

Originally posted by Steve View PostHell, I agree with you. The whole situation is a bowl of shit. As citizens we employ these people with the power to police society, to protect and serve. I believe a majority of officers are good people doing a very hard job. But all the good they do is completely ruined by a small group of overzealous idiots. Which in return only causes further resentment on both sides with good and bad officers.

Unfortunately, the average person doesn't take one honorable breath in their entire fucking lives. If you can walk past this sort of shit going on and not do what you can to help out of principle alone, then you aren't worth the oxygen that you breathe. Your deeds will define you, not your big TV, your salary, your house, none of it. If you can't stand up for your brother, then you won't stand up for yourself. If you won't stand up for yourself, then you're more akin to the violator than the violatee.

If me and 5 other friends ( assuming i had that many ) beat the shit out of whiteboy and he died, wouldn't all 6 of us be held accountable regardless?
It would take 6 of you to beat up Jeremy? Pussies!
