When an officer does something heroic, he/she better damn well recieve recognition.
receive recognition for what they are sworn to do? you know how much recognition for building high rises and hospitals
(places that really save lifes) i have received? fukin none. except when i drive by and see it and can tell me kids i built that. officers don't do anything heroic... they do their job, nothing else. you shouldn't need recognition if your an officer. your recognition is going home with a clear conscience of knowing you went home doing your job to the best of your ability.

Employees need positive reinforcement. A pat on the back for a job well done is good for morale.

I signed up to do good, but when you save a live and risk your own, it's not a common trait.

Quotes like "Uncommon valor was a common virtue" are great for a reason.

          • How much positive feed back do we get when we return from a 20 hour patrol where most of our vehicles are on fire and several guys are dead? Frefit and go back out. Man up because you have a job to do.

Tons.... When I came back I was greated by mobs of people. Every Dallas mavericks, Stars, cowboys and Texas rangers game I have been to they honor troops. Not to mention care packages, letters from people I didn't even know to name a few.

If your leaders did not give any positive feedback, they were shitty leaders.

There is a difference between supervision and leadership. A supervisor rules through threat of discipline, a real leader leads by example.

                • Video recorded at a bus stop near the seen, as witnesses talk about the killers. Smart bus driver.

One of the comments made on the video:
"Who do you call when the police are murdering someone?"

I came back on a c130 strapped to a backboard to Walter Reed. Zero people met me, and from there to Darnell and fast tracked to medical retirement. So it pisses me off when I hear "I need a pat on the back"

You, and anyone like you, should be given positive reinforcement for the job you did. I have seen numerous posts thanking you for your service, and I don't recall seeing you reply once that you dislike the display of recognition.

                      • I'm saying I didn't get nor ask for recognition for the job I did and didn't do my job based on it. Hell, most of my job was done in other countries. And once more, it pisses me off when I hear "I need a pat on the back"

I'm not saying you asked for it, but don't be so stubborn to smite those that would wish you thanks for doing the job you did.

Oh, and you need a pat on the back.

                          • Probably right. Combine survivor's guilt with a severe case of PTSD and I get pretty angry at some things. And that link you popped up about Police 1? Dear Lord. Talk about cops closing ranks. "They should have arrested him right off the bat" and ""We should lock this site so we can't be criticized."

Wow. Some piss poor witnesses there.

                              "They electrocuted him."
"He was almost half way dead."
                              "He wasn't doing nothing."

From what I remember, the police were called because he was burglarizing cars. I'm sure this will be figured out, and any way it wraps up, it is blatanlty obvious the police used excessive force.

Actually, it sounds spot-on. He was tazed at least five times, was beat into a coma and died five days later, and from multiple witnesses, was sitting on a bench doing nothing until the police approached him, at which he ran and was beaten to near death. The only thing he did wrong was not run faster.

No, they were called because SOMEONE was breaking into cars, nice to see you still jumping to conclusions though.
