Big brother is watching you now and the tape doesn't lie, you can sit here all day and pump up your badge but in the end your actions vs the actions of the regular joe are not on the same playing field.

It's a shame you think that out of a few officers, that the other 800,000 are corrupt and violent.

              SSDT (Same shit, different thread)

Something that I feel needs to be said is that LEO's DO NOT cover for their own all the time.

Hell, look at this video that was posted on Police1 :

Look at the comments condeming this supervisor's misconduct.

No not at all...to the contrary that's why he didn't stay. He went on the force after returning from the Army....but only stayed about 7 years before switching careers and going into aviation. He said he just couldn't sit by and watch it any longer....in those days it was really bad, organized crime and much of the police force were about one in the same, the squeaky wheels were dealt with too.....so his best bet was to keep his mouth shut and get himself out of it.

                • The simple fact is that bad news travels much faster and to a broader audience than good news.

I'd bet none of you heard of this:

A Wyoming deputy jumped into a river to save a girl and then lost his own life.

Where are all the accolades for this guy???

As a people-manager in today's workforce I can fully agree with what you are saying here. It's amazing the people I deal with that grade themselves as over-performers in our company, and the reasons they notoriously give are things like being to work on-time, not using sick days, being available for customers, and other general examples that fit pretty much into their "Job Description".

It seems pretty pathetic that our society has become of the mindset that it’s exemplary for just doing what you are supposed to do.....I suppose because more & more people do not.

You guys need to put the comic books down. I'll tell you from experience, that not every officer is really willing to put his/her life on the line. Would any of you do it?

When an officer does something heroic, he/she better damn well recieve recognition.

That Chris Rock stuff is gold.

As a Field Training Officer, I once trained a female officer that seemed to have no real drive for the job. So, one day I flat out asked her why she was here. She was confused, and I asked her "why exaclty did you become an officer?" I was expecting the old Boy Scout answer : to catch bad guys, to help people, etc...

Her response was "I've already been in retail, I was a waitress, I was 29 and still living at home and thought it was time for a real job." I wanted to kick her out of the car.
