I have been fortunate, the last two years we went I did not get any altitude sickness. As Jluv said, we camp at 10,000ft. The first year I went was rough, but I was carrying alot of extra weight. The last year I was down 60lbs or so and it was much easier to get around.

Welcome to every road in Oklahoma that isn't an interstate highway. I hate driving there. ba-dunk ba-dunk ba-dunk

There is a Mexican food in Colorado Springs called Amanda's that is pretty good kinda like a cross between On the Border and Tias. The big Red Barn has some good home cooking too.

Ride the train up pikes peek when you get a chance.

There is traffic anytime after 4pm northbound to Denver and the same for Powers from the army base letting out. Going to Pikes Peak next Thursday up Barr Trail, I'll try to get pics from the top (and hopefully dont get rained on).

Do yourself a favor and go see Bishop's Castle, and spend a day at Lake San Isabel. The Gorge is a blast, I used to go every year. Would love to get back up there for another trip down the river. I want to do one of the 2-3 day camping river trips. There is a wolf preservation near Westcliffe/Silvercliffe. That place is pretty damn cool. There is a graveyard in Silvercliffe where the headstones 'glow' at night.

Just went through Colorado over the last 2 days. Check out a place called seven falls....pretty sweet. Did garden of the gods yesterday along with the cliff dwellings. One thing I did notice while passing through was all of the damn pizza places. Those things were everywhere.

We never did get around to Seven Falls, did it live up to the hype? How about the cliff dwellings?

Pizza places = for all the stoners? I dunno, saw quite a few hipsters or whatever.

<<< jealous. Never been but I imagine it is alot like the most beautiful place I ever been to; red river, nm. Mountains, white caps, ~70 during the day, low 30s at nigt, rained everyday, and gorgeous. And this was in august. I wish I never left. Enjoy it man, anywhere is better then tx in the summer IMO. .
