Whatever your obession is with SERE, i don't know why you would go through the AF to get it... Try SF, Ranger, SEALS, PJ's, Marine Recon. etc etc ... plenty of other branches give you a thorough ass whipping.... Hell Army Aviaition (the correct unit) will send you to the ass whippin of a life time...

As others have said though, get it in writing on the contract... Verbal promises are shit.

IF your hell bent on joining the AF, look into UAV's. I would have gone that way had i know about them 15 years ago... Damn, i sound old now... fuck! Anyways civilian UAV jobs pay well.

I had to come back to this... Are you just wanting the SERE training or are you set on being an instructor, specificaslly for SERE?

Like what was said earlier; it is a very secluded position in most cases that usually winds you up assigned to a job that "relates" to your specialty until you're needed.

Now, I can see the want for something like a Combat Controller or Pararescue. I guess I've just never heard anyone wanting to roger up just to get to be a SERE Specialist. That is usually something that someone within the Air Force wants to "upgrade" to.

There are many jobs within the Air Force that require you to take SERE training. Jobs that are more open for advancement or even set you up for careers after you leave the service.

Given thought to JTAC? They are detached to ODA teams and are about as avant garde as an Airman can get.

Another plus one for UAV....HUGE civilian sector. Nothing like telling chicks in the bar you are an unmanned arial drone pilot.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I believe that is the direction my son is going. So far, he's only flown a Cessna and various simulators. I told him to get as much time in as he could in both.

JTAC is a qualification that TACP's earn, it isn't its own AFSC.

And lolz at telling chicks you're a UAV pilot. Half of them won't know or care what it is, and the other half you won't want to take home considering you'll either be in Clovis NM, Indian Springs NV, or Knob Knoster MO.

Listen hard to this guy. I was stationed in Clovis. The one attractive woman I knew while I was stationed there wasn't from there.

Sex with an Asian woman is great, but 30 minutes later you're horny again.
